4Children announce co-management of RAF Linton on Ouse in Yorkshire

22 August 2012

As part of 4Children’s aim to support families and children throughout the UK, the national charity has recently helped to open a nursery at the RAF base in Linton on Ouse in Yorkshire.

The new nursery will provide 80 places between RAF and civilian children attending both the Nursery and the Out of School Club. It will join 4Children’s growing network of Children’s centres and nurseries across the country.

In partnership with others, 4Children will continue to draw upon the high quality of its growing portfolio of children’s centre’s to deliver services that:

  • Are closely integrated with health, schools, family support, employment and safeguarding;
  • Take a whole family approach – supporting and strengthening families and working with early intervention and prevention throughout;
  • Are at the heart of the community with community and engagement and delivery at its core;
  • Work with families as their children grow up – delivering services within a wider framework of 0 – 11 support;

Charles Ellis, Deputy Chief Executive of 4Children, said:

With more and more strain being placed on RAF families in these times of national and international uncertainty, the Nursery at the RAF base will help support RAF families – as well as civilian ones – throughout these difficult times.

Through the expertise of 4Children and existing staff, we are confident that the children and families that attend our children’s centres in Linton on Ouse will receive a quality experience that supports their care, learning and development and we are delighted to be given the opportunity to build on the excellent work and provision of support that families throughout Linton have already received.”

Julie Williams, Head of Childcare Services for 4Children said:

We are delighted to be part of this new and promising partnership and we look forward to providing ongoing support to both RAF and civilian children and their families.

Families of RAF personnel face particular challenges which make it more important than ever that young people have positive support to realise their potential. 4Children is proud to play this crucial role in ensuring that young people within RAF families receive the first class services and support that their family’s dedication and sacrifice rightly deserves.”

4Children

4Children is the national charity all about children and families. We have spearheaded a joined-up, integrated approach to children’s services and work with a wide range of partners around the country to ensure children and families have access to the services and support they need in their communities.

We run Sure Start Children’s Centres as well as family and youth services across Britain.

We develop, influence and shape national policy on all aspects of the lives of children, young people and families. As the Government’s strategic partner for early years and childcare we have a crucial role in co-producing policy with the Department of Education and representing the sector’s views and experiences. Our national campaigns, like Give Me Strength, change policy and practice and put the needs of children and families on the political and policy agenda.
