Commenting on Conservative Party’s plans to freeze working age benefits for two years if elected in 2015, Anne Longfield OBE, Chief Executive of the national charity 4Children said:

Two thirds of people in Britain agree that a strong economy is a top priority for the UK but half say do more for children and families.

The Chancellor's speech will not bring reassurance to the millions of hard working families who have carried the brunt of the recession but are still struggling with low wages and increasing bills.

It should be remembered that two thirds of children in poverty live in a family with working parents.

Any strategy to boost the economic prosperity of the country must recognise that families are our greatest assets and who will only flourish if they get the right help and support.”
