North East Family Hero - Jean Birkett

Jean has four children and alongside this she is a full time foster mother to two disabled children even though she should be retired! There are not many foster homes available for disabled children and the fact that she has taken on these two disabled foster children shows her dedication.

She also looks after a little boy called Barry who is also disabled and she has been a tower of strength to his mum. Jean thinks of everyone but herself. She should be retiring and relaxing but instead she is helping other people.
