GMMAZ believes music is a dynamic end enriching medium for positive change. They work in partnership with young people, artists and organisations to develop and deliver quality music opportunities.
Project Outline

This year’s Come and Play project, delivered by GMMAZ, will focus on development of music skills of both workers and children involved. The aim will be for each club to produce their own composition and a CD recording of it. Clubs will receive a supply of instruments, copies of CDs, DVDs (of a short documentation of the borough’s project) and play workers will undertake training in music activity.

Each club is participating in five workshops, with additional training sessions for play workers.
Workshops are running over a three-week period at each club - two sessions for the first two weeks, and one session in the last week (to record for the CD). One club will run over four weeks - one week with two sessions.
Play workers are being given activities to undertake on days the workshops aren’t taking place. These activities help to develop the skills learned at the workshops with the musicians, as well as keeping the activity fresh and nurturing music activity delivered by play workers. They are also being given resources, training and guidance on their delivery.

During the project, and after all the children’s workshops have been completed, there will be training sessions for play workers to use the Come and Play Music Making Resource Pack, which will be provided for every club.
