Thurrock

Rhythmix are working with 4 clubs in Thurrock. The clubs will explore African drumming, vocal work and basic percussion.

Rhythmix is a not-for-profit organisation founded by four Local Education Authority Music Services, Surrey, East Sussex, Kent and Brighton & Hove. It was formed in 2000 with the aim of reaching out to young people who otherwise may not enjoy the opportunity to be involved in music making.

The projects are run by experienced community musicians and as well as developing music skills the young people involved in Rhythmix projects have also shown improvements in other areas of their lives, for example increased self-esteem, better social skills and improved behaviour both in and out of school.

Rhythmix musicians are extremely experienced and have worked with a wide range of young people of different ages and abilities. Rhythmix can offer a broad spectrum of musicians skilled in diverse styles and genres of music. These include vocal workshops, African percussion, South American percussion, rock and pop, body percussion, music technology and DJing.
