Music Organisation: Sound It Out
Sound It Out Community Music’s mission is to offer dynamic and vibrant music opportunities, by connecting people who have little opportunity to make music with musicians who want to inspire them and new audiences who want to hear them.

Sound It Out has been in existence since 1992 and its musical activities and services are culturally and stylistically diverse. The organisation works with people of all ages, ability and levels of commitment in the West Midlands in informal and formal settings, seeking to work to the highest quality in process and performance. Sound It Out views music making for creative expression, individual and collective well-being, in the regeneration of communities and lifelong learning to be of immense value. Sound It Out currently deliver musical activities across 4 ‘pillars’: project work under the strands of Youth, Health and Inclusion; and Continuing Professional Development including ongoing projects. It runs an Advisory and Support Service. It consults regularly with users and stakeholders about the direction it should take in these areas.

BPCN have been very successful in developing a strong arts programme following their involvement with Come and Play. Funding from Youth Music, Arts Council England and the local authority (totalling £69,000) has enabled more Birmingham clubs to get involved in music, dance, visual arts and drama workshops.
Birmingham playworkers have also undertaken training on the Come and Play resource pack.
