Flexible Working for Parents
In response to Government’s announcement (15 May 2008) on the extension of the right to request flexible work conditions for parents of children up to the age of 16 (rather than parents of under 6 year olds as at present), 4Children has issued the following statement.
Anne Longfield, Chief Executive of 4Children, said:
“The pressures on parents don’t stop when children start attending school and this is often a time when parents feel that they need to spend more time with their children. Being around after school to help with homework – especially when there are exams or problems – is really important as children get older.
"Being able to negotiate working patterns that enable this to happen will be an immense relief for many parents and a real gain for children. Along with high quality childcare, this is the kind of solution modern parents are looking for to balance their busy lives.”
