Early Years Foundation Stage – a crucial tool
Commenting on the two EYFS reviews outlined in today’s Ministerial statement, Anne Longfield OBE, Chief Executive of 4Children, said:
“4Children sees the Early Years Foundation Stage as a crucial tool in developing and improving the quality and consistency of early years provision and one which is already helping to achieve real change. "We welcome today’s announcements as an opportunity to build on the positives in the EYFS and fine tune so that we can smooth the transition for children into primary school and make sure we have a framework in place which is really doing the best for children and childcare providers. “ Today saw the announcement that Sir Jim Rose is to review milestones set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage, and further details of the EYFS review, scheduled to begin in 2010. The Minister confirmed the review will assess how the framework was implemented and how well it meets the needs of children, families and childcare providers.
