Policy into Practice no. 7: Holiday provision for older children and young people
Childcare and extended services - briefing for new and existing providers supported by Sure Start
This issue looks in more detail at holiday provision for older children and young people (aged 10 to 14). Many of the recent Childcare Sufficiency Assessments by English local authorities report a shortage of good quality, affordable holiday provision, with provision for older children a particular gap. Extending the availability of quality, affordable holiday provision for 1014 year olds is therefore a major opportunity for new and existing providers to develop their services and fill this gap in the market.
