This issue considers the development of accessible childcare for disabled children as part of the core offer of extended services in and around schools. Government guidelines for extended services emphasise the importance of developing opportunities that are inclusive, and focus on improving outcomes for the most disadvantaged children. “Children with disabilities or special educational needs must be able to access all new services".
