As we enter the new era for childcare and children’s services, 4Children is working hard to turn innovative policy into innovative practice – getting people in place to implement the new children’s services agenda.
Over the last decade 4Children has had a major impact – supporting an increase in out of school childcare schemes from just 500 in 1993 to over 10,000 in 2005. Re-launched last year, 4Children has broadened its scope, striving to place every child’s and parent’s needs at the heart of the community. More than anything, 4Children is about making a difference – about identifying issues and devising and delivering solutions.
Policy into Practice 4Children has many years experience of consultancy and partnership work with a wide variety of organisations from national government to local authorities, employers, development agencies and community organisations. Our support shapes practice in a way that meets local needs and the national framework for change outlined in Every Child Matters: Change for Children and the Children Act 2004.
Supported by the DfES, 4Children’s dedicated team of Regional Development Managers and network of specialist consultants offers strategic and operational advice on developing children’s centres, extended school services, youth services and wider support for childcare. Since 2002, 4Children has offered strategic and operational support to over 100 local authorities across the UK.
In order to support schools as they develop extended services, 4Children, ContinYou and the National Remodelling Team (NRT) are working together to help support the delivery of high quality, sustainable provision which meets the needs of children, families and the community.
