4Children’s response to Ofsted’s announcement that its action has taken 10,000 children out of inadequate care
Anne Longfield, Chief Executive, 4Children said:
“We know how important the Ofsted inspection and quality improvement process is to both providers and parents. There is strong recognition from providers of the immense value Ofsted have in providing a positive framework of guidance in raising standards.
“4Children is, however, very concerned that this level of guidance and sometimes support will be lost in new Childcare Register Arrangements with proposed inspections of only 10% of providers each year. This approach can only work if the quality improvement function is taken up more robustly by local authorities. This has to be ensured before any changes in regulation take place.”
