About The Philip Lawrence Awards
The Philip Lawrence Awards reward outstanding achievements in good citizenship by young people aged 11 to 20. They recognise contributions to the community which bring out the best in young people, empower them to take the initiative and make a real difference to their lives and the lives of others – building confidence, promoting safety and reducing crime.
Since 1997, the scheme has supported over 1,000 young people in the UK. The outstanding results have proved that the Awards have been a huge success in promoting youth involvement in local communities, social behaviour, self-esteem and continual participation in valuable neighbourhood activities.
The inspiration for the awards is Philip Lawrence who knew that young people are capable of great acts of thoughtfulness, generosity and vision.
