Sifting Weekend

Sifting Weekend

Following the closing date for nominations, an initial ‘sift’ meeting takes place to shortlist the many nominations.

For the 2007 Awards 17 young people – previous judges and winners – came together in September at NASUWT headquarters for a weekend, accompanied by 4Children staff, to choose the shortlist.

Although it was a major task, the high energy levels of the young people were infectious and there was still time for fun. Bowling and games helped everyone get to know one another better and a late night game of monopoly certainly focused the competitive spirit of the young people! The time spent pouring over the various projects and discussing their merits finally resulted in a shortlist of 16 nominations.

Awards scheme founder Frances Lawrence also reviewed all nominations and recommended projects to be shortlisted.
