Fellowship
Twelve years on from Philip’s death, The Philip Lawrence Awards are stronger than ever. Over the years a fellowship of young people has developed and loyal friendships have been forged. At a summer conference, on residential weekends and reunion days they discuss their projects, gain experience from others, and increase their understanding. Increasingly, the scheme is being delivered by young people for young people. They debate its ethos, play an invaluable part in the judging of nominations, and consider its future direction.
“The sifting weekend was AWESOME! When we weren’t ‘working’ we went out bowling. We had such a blast, everyone was looking forward to seeing each other again in December for the Awards. It was important for me to take part in this event. I wanted to give something back to the Philip Lawrence Awards for believing in my project and I felt that it was my turn to give someone else a chance of possibly becoming a winner. This weekend symbolises recognition and achievement of those who entered the Philip Lawrence Awards.” Shahira Mohamed from the 2005 Award winning project The Inclusion Zone
