FACE (Fighting Against Child Exploitation)

FACE (Fighting Against Child Exploitation)

We strive to provide young people with a voice; one which enables them to fight against their own exploitation and that of others

Who we are…
8 young people as a group; 2 young people individually

Where we’re based…
Dundee, Scotland

When we started…
May 2001

How we started…
We began as a group of young people in Dundee who were affected by sexual exploitation and when we reached out for help found there was no service available to support us. We wanted to stop feeling stigmatised, and to support other young people to be aware of the dangers of sexual exploitation and how to keep themselves safe.

Our work…
We use a variety of methods to express our ideas and feelings in a therapeutic and positive, fun way – creative arts, writing, drama and poetry – and develop resources that young people can use. The resources include: Nae Danger: an animated DVD and pack with board games, worksheets and quizzes; an interactive website; and two magazines. We have also been involved in social work training and consultations and facilitated workshops.

Future plans…
We are exploring opportunities for training courses so that young people can be involved in the rollout of Nae Danger throughout the UK. We are also applying for funding to expand the project and include more educational opportunities. We are developing other resources including a computer game about sexual exploitation.
