The Inclusion Zone – TIZ

The Inclusion Zone – TIZ
Is: A hospice providing support for life limited and life threatened children and young people
Based: Sittingbourne, Kent
Begun: 2004
Involves: 4 young people, 30+ beneficiaries

About: TIZ is the purpose built, fully interactive adolescent room at Demelza House Children’s Hospice – designed and developed from scratch by young people living with progressive life limiting medical conditions. It is a place where young people visiting the hospice can relax and be teens, and is accessible for all young people with disabilities. A remote controlled system activates the TV, music systems, doors and lifts, and young people have created a jigsaw mural on the walls – to be added to by each new teen who uses the room.
