Tenbury High School, Tenbury Wells, Worcester

Tenbury High School has over the last year risen to the challenge of establishing itself as an Extended School offering full services to children and the local community in what is a very mixed area. It now provides services for isolated rural villages but also urban council estates with high levels of social deprivation. The school has received an outstanding report from Ofsted but continues to build on its success. It is developing a comprehensive wraparound childcare scheme, parent education courses and crucially, given the community spread, arranged for the usage of a community minibus service. Head Teacher of the school said: "The things we now offer have improved the atmosphere in the school considerably. There’s a knock on effect in motivation. Pupils are better inclined towards the school and this leads to them generally doing better.”
