Shout Out 4Children Week

23 June–27 June 2008

Calling all children and young people! Tell 4Children your thoughts on issues that are important to you – send us an email to info@4Children.org.uk.

Children’s service around the country – from nurseries to children’s centres, out of school schemes to extended schools and youth centres – joined us to celebrate Shout Out 4Children Week 2008, putting the views of children and young people centre stage and making an impact!

Thank you to all who took part in the annual My Shout Out! national children’s survey. Children and young people were invited to share their views about child poverty and what they do in their spare time. The full report of the survey will be available to download here during Shout Out 4Children Week.

Host a Shout Out!
Get involved in this important week of 4Children’s campaigning activity. We want children’s organisations and partners from across the spectrum to seek the views of children and young people through a series of ‘Shout Outs’.

  • Ask your local MP to come to your Shout Out – for the children and young people to talk to their MP about the issues which concern them.
Download a template letter to send to your local MP, click here
  • Promote your event or activity with the Shout Out 4Children Week poster. It has an empty belly for you to insert the event details: time, venue, etc.

  • Celebrate everyone’s involvement with the Shout Out 4Children Week certificate.

Whatever kind of children’s service you are running – from nursery to Children’s Centre, out of school scheme to extended school and youth centre – putting the views of children and young people centre stage is crucial.

Children’s involvement in all aspects of decision making has a profound impact on both the quality of the service but also on the vibrancy of the environment, creating a real buzz and excitement. But children and young people have so much more to say and that’s why we are encouraging everyone to get involved in Shout Out! Week to give children across the country a voice.
