Comment on EYFS profile results

Commenting on the publication of the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile results, Chief Executive of 4Children Imelda Redmond CBE, said:

“News that the good level of development among children at the end of the reception year is continuing to improve is very welcome.

“While it is good news that the attainment gap between children in disadvantaged areas and their peers has closed slightly, it remains worryingly wide.

If we are serious about improving social mobility it is vital that we tackle the attainment gap as early as possible in a child’s life. The Early Years Pupil Premium is an essential tool to making this happen.”
