Starting a Family Revolution - Putting families in charge

Free

Over the past 18 months 4Children’s Family Commission, chaired by Esther Rantzen, has asked 10,000 families what they think about family life and support for families in Britain today.

Families remain the most important determinant of a child’s life chances and as such are crucial to all our futures. Familes told us that Britain has become trapped with an outdated system that fails to understand the aspirations of families and is unable to cope with the fast paced changes of modern life.

Our conclusions map out a route to change the dynamic between family and the state – putting families in the driving seat. and supporting all familes to flourish.

The Commission challenges the Government, local authorities, the family courts, professionals, schools and families themselves to put families at the centre of everything we do.
